The Hotel Tryp Habana Libre 4 *, one of the most emblematic in the city, was built in the 50s by the Hilton hotel chain.
With the arrival of Fidel Castro in Havana on January 8, 1959, he established his headquarters for 3 months at the Habana Hilton and his office in suite 2324. It would soon become Hotel Habana Libre.
It is located in the well-known and central area of La Rampa, in Vedado neighborhood. It is one of the tallest buildings in Havana. Its 25 stories offer incredible views of the city and the sea from its privileged position at the intersection of L and 23 streets, one of the busiest corners of Havana.
Its façade is presided over by a large ceramic mural by the renowned Cuban painter Amelia Peláez and its decoration includes original works of Cuban art. It is a property of recognized patrimonial value.
Upon entering, we find a huge atrium-shaped lobby, with a fountain in the middle and different areas to sit and hang out, a typical bar from the 50s and photos of famous guests adorning the walls.
The pool is very good, the rooms are spacious and those on the highest floors offer magnificent views, it features several restaurants and bars, a shopping arcade, and on the 25th floor there is a huge party room with a 360-degree panoramic view and a roof that opens to reveal the sky and the stars: the "Turquino".
The hotel is surrounded by cinemas, theaters, the famous Coppelia ice cream parlor, the University of Havana, shopping centers and other places of interest.
One of the most outstanding features of this hotel is its specialization in large events in the capital of Cuba; It offers two large convention areas, multipurpose rooms, a business center, locations for parties and banquets, in formats for up to 1500 people.
Although the Tryp Habana Libre is highly recommended for businesses and events, there is a visible need for general maintenance, which generates unfavorable opinions among visitors: smell of humidity, rust, damaged furniture.
It is a very large facility and some rooms have been totally remodeled and their furniture changed, among other renovation works.
We recommend the Premium rooms.
In short, an option to consider for travelers or business groups, work meetings and events in the center of the city of Havana.
