Cancun is a Mexican city located in the state of Quintana Roo, in eastern Mexico. It is divided into five zones, Isla CancĂșn is the first and most important Hotel Zone with most of its beaches and activities. In addition, you will find the Urban Zone, Puerto JuĂĄrez, Isla Mujeres and the Ejidal Strip.
Cancun is today the most internationally known destination in Mexico. It is the gateway to other magnificent places such as Playa del Carmen and Tulum and also the gateway to the Mayan train route, a journey that allows you to discover the deepest roots of the ancestral culture of Mexico.
The hotel zone covers some 23 kilometers and surrounds the beautiful Nichupté Lagoon, which offers a unique spectacle bathed on one side by the mangrove lagoon and, on the other, by the Caribbean Sea. It is the area that includes the most exclusive accommodation in Cancun, being Punta Cancun the one of the most special accommodations. But all of Cancun offers wonderful beaches and accommodations for all types of visitors. It comprises several neighborhoods and is home to multiple all-inclusive resorts, restaurants, and relaxing sandy beaches.
Cancun has shopping centers where you can find almost anything! Among them is Puerto CancĂșn, just a few minutes from kilometer zero, followed by La Isla at km 12, one of the most famous and Plaza KukulcĂĄn a little further ahead, to name a few.
The main attraction of Cancun is undoubtedly its beaches. Throughout the Hotel Zone you can find access to the many incredible beaches of the Mexican Caribbean Sea. Do not miss the Cancun Lighthouse, which you access through Playa Caracol at km 8. Another that you must visit is Playa Define, which has a viewpoint and you will be amazed by the colors of the sea.
In Cancun there are also Archaeological Zones that you should not miss. San Miguelito at KM 16 is the first one you enter through the Mayan Museum in Cancun. Then at km 18, shortly after Playa Delfines is the El Rey Archaeological Zone, a small one but well worth visiting being already in Cancun to delve into the Mayan culture.
There are many places, beaches and activities that you can do during your stay ... Here are some of them.
