Hotel Islazul Santa Clara Libre is on a great location in the heart of the city, at the main plaza, only one block from the shopping boulevard and near everything there is to see in Santa Clara.
Formerly Santa Clara Hilton, the 11 story hotel was built between 1953 and 1956. It is, still today, the tallest building of the city and offers wonderful views, especially from the top-floor terrace and from its restaurant on the 10th floor.
It is a shame the hotel hasn't been renovated in centuries. Its rooms are clean but very dated, furniture is tired, air conditioning old and very noisy; bathrooms are truly small, showers tiny… and if you are given a room on one of the top floors the disco might not let you sleep until 2 in the morning. Since there’s another disco on the basement, perhaps the wisest to do is to choose one room on the 5th floor or so.
This said, the prices are really low so it is perhaps the perfect hotel for those wanting to spend a night or two without spending much.
