Hotel Starfish Club Cayo Guillermo is an all-inclusive 4* resort which stands on the fine white sand beach of Cayo Guillermo, on the north of Ciego de Avila province.
Access to the key is possible through "Jardines del Rey Airport" (Cayo Coco's international airport) and then taking a causeway connecting both keys; or by land using a longer causeway that links the mainland (Cuba) to Cayo Coco and then the above mentioned causeway between Cayo Coco y Cayo Guillermo.
The stretch of beach, though narrow, is gorgeous, with an incredibly transparent and shallow turquoise sea. The swimming pools are clean and offer plenty of lounges; the gardens are well kept, with many tropical plants and flowers; the staff is very welcoming and friendly.
Another plus of this resort is the great wind for for kite surfing (more details in Highlights) and the proximity to Playa Pilar, one of Cuba's most beautiful beaches, named after Ernest Hemingway's yacht, the cabin cruiser Pilar, since it provided the setting for the climax of the writer's last novel "Islands in the Stream".
Rooms are distributed amongst bungalows and log cabins that spread between trees and trails. There are also some by the beach, which are quieter. But in general the cabana style rooms are cozier and more welcoming.
There are also independent houses of two and four rooms which are ideal for small groups of family and friends traveling together. Guests staying there will have access to all hotel areas and will benefit from the all-inclusive services plus some additional perks.
All in all, a good choice for travellers looking to get away at a wonderful location.
Tips: Bring bug spray. It’s an island!
