Hotel Pasacaballo is a big building (six-stories and almost 200 rooms) located at the entrance of Cienfuegos Bay, far from downtown but very economical and offering large clean rooms, a huge salt-water pool surrounded by palm trees, and a very friendly service.
From the outside it looks like an eastern block building back in the 60’s and the inside is pretty old fashioned too. It is a very modest place to stay. Don’t expect any luxuries or amenities like a hair dryer in the bathroom. Also, you might come across a lamp that is not functioning or a door to a balcony not closing properly, but if your standards are not too high you will enjoy the wonderful views, the lovely grounds and nearby attractions such as The Jagua Fortress, which you can visit by taking a ferry across the bay.
It is also conveniently set to explore The Escambray Mountains, the Nicho waterfalls and other natural places in the area.
Recommended for all those travelers on a tight budget and who prefer to be surrounded by nature rather than staying in cities.
