Although not of recent construction (1999), Hotel Melia Cayo Coco is a gracious all-inclusive for adults only (18 +) resort standing on the beach of Cayo Coco, exactly in Las Coloradas, a beautiful long beach of white sand which is ideal for diving and fishing , only shared with its neighbor hotel Sol Cayo Coco.
The key is linked to the mainland by the first stone causeway built in Cuba and it is home to a colony of pink flamingos. The resort features a natural salt water lagoon and it’s proud of its well achieved integration with the surrounding lush tropical landscaping.
Green common areas are very beautiful and well kept by perseverant gardeners.
Its 250 rooms are very adequate, especially if you choose the Grand Premium Lagoon View rooms; a section of the hotel consisting of bungalows built on stilts in a natural lagoon of the sea, quiet, elegant and intimate. Another added value to these rooms is that they offer views of the sunrise and sunset from their balconies, beautiful views that are well worth it.
Important note: smoking is not allowed inside the rooms of this hotel. It is only allowed on balconies or terraces of those rooms designated for smokers.
Meliá Cayo Coco offers the perfect environment for romantic trips, honeymoons, weddings, with special facilities and services for this type of trip.
You will have a great holiday if you choose Meliá Cayo Coco, and you will feel at home because the staff is so friendly and supportive. Food seems to be quite good as well (according to recent feedback); there’s good variety and different restaurants to choose from.
One gripe has to be mentioned, though: there are mosquitos due to the presence of the lagoon so, be sure to bring mosquito spray!.
This hotel might not be the best option for travelers looking for a party place. It is really best for couples or visitors searching for a very relaxing and quiet retreat.
