Hotel Encanto Rijo is set in a gorgeous colonial house from mid 19th century which used to belong to the distinguished doctor Rudesindo GarcĂa Rijo. Beautifully renovated it is now a boutique hotel of only 16 rooms with a truly nice atmosphere and very good service.
The property is built around an open central courtyard which has a fountain, many tropical plants, tables and chairs. It features a bar, a restaurant, and a large covered terrace where is also possible to eat lunch and dinner, order cocktails or simply kill time watching the locals go by.
Rooms are quite big and beautiful, with colonial style furniture and spacious bathrooms; some feature lovely balconies offering city views. Staff is helpful and obliging. Internet is not always good, but still available in the lobby.
All in all the perfect hotel to spend a night or two on the way to / from Trinidad; its privileged location, only a block away from the main square, allows its guests to easily explore the handsome downtown of Sancti SpĂritus while in the city.
To take into consideration:
-The hotel overlooks a tiny square and it's located on a quiet street, but since wooden shutters don't provide good sound insulation, don't expect perfect peace and quiet in the rooms.
- It features no elevators but there are porters to help with the bags.
