Hotel OrdoƱo is housed in a gorgeous building from 1927 located in Gibara, a small yet lovely port town in the outskirts of the city of Holguin which was founded in 1817 and declared National Monument in 2003.
Gibara, also known as āThe White Townā, offers a beautifully restored colonial center, a nice malecĆ³n (seaside promenade), the most friendly people, and excellent food.
There isnĀ“t much to do there, except during the āInternational Festival of Poor Cinemaā, but if you are the kind of traveler who enjoys wandering about tranquil cities with marvelous colonial houses, pretty views of the sea and the mountains plus plenty of typical (and cheap) restaurants, you will definitely appreciate this place.
It is also possible to book excursions to nearby caves, and for divers, underwater caves.
The hotelās has undergone a stunning restoration very recently therefore everything is new and working. From the rooftop terrace one can enjoy fantastic views over the town while sipping a mojito from the bar. On this terrace there are also deck chairs for sunbathing and it features live music at nights.
The open air lobby is also a wonderful place to waste time and the hotelās 27 rooms are large, spotlessly clean, with big windows offering great views, especially from the suites on the 3rd floor.
The a la carte restaurant has a lovely fountain and very good food complimented with exquisite service from the staff which is, no doubt, one of the best appeals of this true gem hotel.
Not to miss: A sunset from the rooftop terrace and singing performance (if any during your stay).
