Hotel Encanto Camino del Príncipe is located in Remedios, the 8th villa founded by the Spaniards in Cuba and a lovely city in the province of Villa Clara (central part of Cuba).
Remedios is relatively close to the popular keys of Villa Clara, Cayo Las Brujas, Ensenachos and Santa María, is famous for its “parrandas” (probably Cuba’s biggest and oldest traditional party) and offers the simple charm of a place that has barely changed in many many years.
The Camino del Príncipe stands right on the main square and therefore is perfectly situated to explore the city.
It features 26 well equipped, lovely furnished rooms. The ones overlooking the square offer a nice, entertaining view and are undoubtedly the best rooms, with pretty balconies, but are also noisier due to the central location. The interior ones, however, have no windows.
There is also a lobby bar and adjoining restaurant plus a backyard with tables. Food and service are adequate and the whole place has been completely renovated and decorated with taste.
In fact the word “Encanto” (“charm” in Spanish), is a fairly new brand of Cuban hotel chain Cubanacán, which aims to classify these hotels as “boutique” or “hotel de charme”, as French call this type of accommodation, generally with not many rooms and lots of character.
(The word can sometimes found abbreviated to an “E” and used as part of the name and at the entrance of these lodgings).
All in all, a clean, comfortable lodging at which we recommend staying for a day or two, maybe on the way to or from the keys, to experience a completely different flavor of Cuba.
