The Hotel Castillo de las Nubes is located on top of the El Fuerte hill, within the natural area of Soroa, in the province of Pinar del Río.
These hills are part of the Sierra del Rosario, declared a Biosphere Reserve.
It was built in 1940 by a farmer named Antonio Arturo Bustamante, inspired by a medieval castle at the whim of its owner.
In 2016 it was turned into a boutique hotel. It features only 6 comfortable rooms that offer majestic views of the mountains in the area. It also enjoys a small pool with a bar and a restaurant-breakfast room.
In its decoration one can find objects belonging to authentic medieval castles that its owner acquired at auctions.
This building is truly a jewel, a little piece of paradise in the middle of the mountains of this Cuban landscape, a haven of peace and intimacy, a castle in the clouds.
Very near the hotel, a kilometer and a half away, there is El Orquideario (orchid garden), a large garden that houses many specimens of these flowers and that is worth visiting for its beauty.
Another attraction not to be missed is the Los Manantiales waterfall, 22 meters high, which is close to the hotel as well.
The hotel is accessed by a steep road. The best access is by car.
It should be taken into account when choosing this hotel, that it has many stairs and therefore it is not recommended for the elderly or people with disabilities.
Ideal for romantic getaways, to enjoy nature and silence, far away from the hectic daily life.
