Inaugurated in 1928, it was destroyed in 1977 by an arsonist the rebuilt and reopened in 1999. It is currently the headquarters of the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba and the most important cultural institution of the 20th century in Cuba.
It has two concert halls: the Amadeo Roldán with capacity for 889 spectators and the Alejandro García Caturla with 276, both equipped with high-quality audio technology, lights and air conditioning where chamber music concerts, recitals, and other shows are held.
It is also the headquarters of the "Amadeo Roldán" Popular Music Festival and of prestigious international events, such as the "International Guitar Meeting".
