It is the longest cave in Cuba with its six thousand meters in length, as well as the largest in the geographic domain of Central America, the Antilles and South America. Located just 17 kilometers off the town of Viñales, it is an ideal place for those with a taste for adventure, exploring grottos and speleological contemplation in general. The first three of the seven levels of karstic caves can be explored in the company of a guide while equipped with helmets fitted with flashlights. The guide and adequate gear needed to access the cavern interior can be requested at the International Speleological School, situated right across from one of the cave entrances. The site was declared National Monument by Cuban authorities in 1989.
