The small square Real del Jigue, is another of the eldest minor plazas of the colonial town. This is the site where the very first catholic mass was officiated and where the first Council was set up. It is ordinarily a very attractive spot for visitors due to the presence of an idiosyncratic tavern of very sui generis architecture bearing the name of “La Canchanchara”. Said establishment offers a great variety of Cuban cocktails, though they do champion the drink that lends its name to the place, which consists of a very refreshing blend of aguardiente and honey.
