Housed in a mansion dating back to the mid XVIII century, it stands as a distinct exponent of the architecture of its era, a time when structures were predominantly topped by wooden gabled roofs, used French carpentry in doors and windows, and possessed expansive interiors richly decorated with colorful stained glasses…

The museum facility was founded in 1981 after a period in which the property was subjected to an extensive renovation. In its exhibit halls one can absorb details of the evolution and development of Sancti Spiritus society throughout the centuries thanks to its collections of Decorative Arts, Documents, Arms, Archaeology, Numismatics, Sports, non-religious Ethnology, Architecture, Painting, Drawing, Publications and Furnishings.
