The Parque de la Fratenidad is the biggest in Havana, the most lively and the one that most shade provides in the whole city, due to its wide an varied amount of trees. It was conceived in 1892 to commemorate the fourth centenary of the Discovery of America, although at that time it wasn´t known by this name.
The most important tree in the park is the Fraternity Tree, planted on February 24th, 1928 to support the good will among the American Nations, on purpose of an important meeting celebrated in Havana with Heads of State from all over the continent.
