Situated in the heart of Havana’s Historical Center and established towards the end of the XVI century, this convent was a distinctive element of the presence of the Franciscan Order in the American continent.
An earlier Franciscan building was demolished in 1719 when the construction of the current edifice began. The convent was completed by 1738; its tower, not until the last third of the XVIII century.
Today, it operates as a museum, as well as a concert hall devoted to chamber music.
