Formerly the Old Plaza de San Francisco, it was built between the 17th -18th centuries in the historic center of the city. It has buildings from different periods and different architectural styles such as: baroque, eclectic, colonial, neoclassical, art-noveau. The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands out and next to it is the old College of the Pious Schools.
Nearby are the Plazuela de Triana, the Callejón de Funda del Catre and the Birthplace of Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda.
