The Market Square or La Marqueta is located in the heart of the City of Parks. This large eclectic-style shed with perimeter galleries and four doors, which was baptized in 1848 as Plaza O'Donnell in honor of the then governor of the Island, Captain General Leonoldo O'Donnell, is today a Cultural Complex that includes a concert room with a wide program of local artists.
It is also one of the main venues for different events such as the International Book Fair, May Pilgrimages, the Ibero-American Craft Fair and the National Youth Theater Festival. Shops linked to culture, recreational sites, galleries and institutions such as the Engraving Workshop, the Marcos House of the Cultural Property Fund, the Radio Taíno radio station, the Pedro Ortiz Literary Promoter, the Lugones Printing House and the Center of the Cuban Association of Artisans Artists can be emnjoyed within their environment.
