Major public square of the city and where, owing to its size, most of the political and social acts of the province are held. Founded in 1991, it has two very well outlined areas; one for rallies and another featuring an impressive monumental complex dedicated to the figure of Antonio Maceo, where the hero of the wars of independence waged against Spain appears represented in a sculpture 16 meters high and weighing 90 tons.
The colossal sculpture of the hero also known as the Bronze Titan depicts Maceo on his warhorse giving orders in a hypothetical battle. On site one also finds a little museum where one can learn much about the life of the great mambí (Cuban anticolonialist).
