The Plaza de la Catedral is one of the best preserved squares in Havana. Its Cathedral and sorrounding buildings have been restored almost to their original splendor.
It is without discussion one of the most lively places of the Old Havana and is sorrounded by very important cultural , commercial and architectural places like the mentioned Cathedral, the San Francisco church, now a concert hall, the Lonja del Comercio, cafés, restaurants and the post office. To one of its ends is the Museum of Colonial Arts , formerly the home of the Governor, with an impressive collection of colonial furniture and other decorative pieces.
Local musicians play Cuban tunes and habaneras in their custom dresses can be found walking around the plaza. It is a perfect spot to begin your journey to the streets of old Havana.
