Recreational-cultural and commercial center par excellence of the city whose origin dates back to the end of the 17th century, surrounded by buildings from different periods, predominantly eclectic.
In the 19th century it was known as Plaza de Recreo or Plaza de Armas, a place of recreation that later lost its splendor during the wars of liberation and it was not until 1911 that the recovery and remodeling began, inaugurating in 1914 as Parque Serafín Sánchez.
Due to the celebrations for the 500 years since the city was founded, the square was remodeled in 2014 and there are elements of a convent and a church, as well as remains of crockery, nails, horseshoes, ceramics, floors, walls, that can be enjoyed thanks to the works of restorations.
