It is located in the Granma municipality of Guisa, in the Los Mameyes locality in the Granma province, with a total area of 104 hectares. It is the third largest in the country and is crossed by the Cupaynicú River, hence its name.
Inaugurated on November 22, 1981 for the conservation and recovery of the native flora threatened or in danger of extinction, with more than 1,800 species of plants including exotic, timber, palm trees, fruit trees, aquatic and medicinal plants, as well as a beautiful landscape natural and of a great variety of endemic birds of Cuba such as tocororo, zunzún, woodpecker, among others.
It has a specialized guide service for visitors and a restaurant.
