This restaurant is managed private enterprise, independent from the Cuban state, and is situated on the outskirts of the town of Viñales just within an agro-ecological finca that supplies the vegetables and tubers on offer at the restaurant.
The culinary service is described as plentiful, with the characteristic that they have dispensed with a bill of fare. The tables are set in the old family manner: the specialties are laid out on the center of the table where diners can help themselves at their own leisure.
Clients arrive at the place after traversing a steep dirt road leading to the top of a small hill, where stands the gabled roof construction that hosts the restaurant. Inside, there are three available dining halls, two in terraces and one at the center of the building. If you pick one of the tables set in one of the terraces on your visit, you will also get to enjoy unequalled panoramic views of the Valley of Viñales with its picturesque mogotes (a unique sort of limestone formation butte).
At the end of the meal you can ask the owners to let you have a first hand look at the agro-ecological crops that in a way gave name to the restaurant.
