The Palacio Cantero is one of the palaces of colonial architecture with neoclassical influence that was built in the first half of the 19th century, between 1828 and 1829, by a family of the sugar aristocracy of the Villa. Located on Desengaño street, very close to the Plaza Mayor, it was inaugurated as a museum in 1980 and shows through its four rooms the history of the city from the aborigines, the slave trade, the development of the sugar industry, the independence struggles and other significant moments in Trinidad.
